Overview Thanh Binh Restaurant

Discover Thanh Binh Restaurant, a long-established Vietnamese dining spot at 52 John St, Cabramatta NSW 2166, Australia. In one of Sydney’s most vibrant Vietnamese food precincts, Thanh Binh Restaurant in Cabramatta offers the kind of broad, traditional menu that rewards both first-time visitors and diners already familiar with Vietnamese cuisine. Open for breakfast, lunch, brunch, and dinner, the restaurant combines noodle soups, grilled meats, rice dishes, seafood, and vegetarian choices in an approachable neighborhood setting.

Pho Dac Biet is an excellent place to begin. This combination beef noodle soup brings together soft rice noodles, tender beef, fresh garnishes, and an aromatic broth designed to be comforting without overwhelming the other ingredients. Customer feedback has praised the noodles for being properly cooked and the beef for its tenderness, while noting that the broth leans flavorful rather than intensely beef-heavy.

Another standout is Com Tam Bi, Suon, Cha and Trung. This traditional broken-rice plate combines shredded pork, grilled pork chop, steamed pork loaf, and fried egg, giving diners several textures and savory flavors on one plate. At around A$18 on current menu listings, it represents solid value for a substantial meal. The restaurant’s Bun Dac Biet and dishes featuring sugarcane prawns and grilled pork are also worth exploring; one diner described the rice vermicelli with prawn and lemongrass pork as the highlight of their meal.

The menu is impressively extensive. Other choices include crispy-skin chicken with tomato rice, roast pork with steamed rice, grilled beef skewers, fried rice, duck dishes, bánh canh, spring rolls, and vegetarian preparations with tofu and vegetables. Most individual rice and noodle dishes sit around the mid-to-high teens in Australian dollars, making Thanh Binh Restaurant an accessible option for everyday dining rather than a special-occasion splurge.

The dining room is straightforward and functional, reflecting the restaurant’s focus on food rather than elaborate décor. Seating, table service, takeaway, and wheelchair access are available, while vegetarian-friendly and vegan options help broaden its appeal. The atmosphere suits families, couples, solo diners, and groups looking for a relaxed Vietnamese meal in central Cabramatta.

Customer sentiment is generally positive, with the restaurant holding hundreds of reviews across major dining platforms. Longtime visitors often mention returning over many years, although some note that individual dishes can vary in consistency. That balance is useful for diners: the strongest reason to visit remains the restaurant’s depth of traditional Vietnamese choices rather than polished fine dining.

Among the best restaurants in Cabramatta for classic Vietnamese local dining experiences, Thanh Binh Restaurant stands out for variety, generous portions, and familiar regional flavors. Visit for pho, broken rice, grilled meats, or sugarcane prawns, and enjoy a satisfying introduction to Cabramatta’s celebrated Vietnamese food culture.

Amazing and authentic Vietnamese food here. Really great food and they come quick. The banh xeo was crispy all the way through which usually isn’t how it’s supposed to be made. It’s supposed to be soft on the inside. The chicken was great and so was the rest of the food. Will definitely be back to have the rest of their menu!

As a local, I've been to this restaurant a few times over the past 10 years. It seems like they may have switched chefs since my last visit, and I have to admit, I was a bit let down this time around. While the portion sizes were generous and satisfying, the taste wasn't quite up to par with what I remember. The quality of the dish itself was average, but it did the job of filling me up. Unfortunately, the service wasn't great either - my server got my order wrong initially. On the bright side, the food did come out quickly. Overall, I'd say Thanh Binh is a decent spot to grab a filling meal, but don't expect a gourmet experience. I'm hopeful that my next visit will be better.

Thanh Binh menu items taste so different than from before. Other reviews mentioned the restaurant has changed owners, which makes sense. Vietnamese ice coffee was nice $7. The food hmmm I would not come back for. It's not bad it's just not memorable. The rare beef noodle $18 has much less noodle than before. Crispy chicken on its own $12 is nothing special, head over to Thanh Viet for this dish. Spring roll comes in 4's $16 is OK the filling is egg/mushroom/noodle, the sauce that accompanies is missing chilli flakes and a variety of veges. The spring roll sauce is yellow liquid and taste like watered down fish sauce and vinegar.
